News broke out late September 2023 about the appointment of two Nigerians as part of a 12-member advisory council on African Diaspora Engagement in the US by President Joe Biden.
The claim is TRUE, here’s how we know.
The two appointed persons as found in several reports were Osagie Imasogie and Chineye Ogwumike. The names are of Nigerian descent.
As made available on the white house website, the advisory council chaired by Silvester Scott Beaman included Mimi E. Alemayehou, Rosalind Brewer, Viola Davis, Helene D. Gayle, Patrick Hubert Gaspard, C.D. Glin, Osagie Imasogie, Almaz Negash, Chinenye Joy Ogwumike, Ham K. Serunjogi, and Kevin Young.
Osagie Imasogie was appointed as a member from Pennsylvania while Chinenye Joy Ogwumike from Texas.
They both share dual citizenship as Nigerian-American.
Chineye Ogwumike was the 2014 WNBA Rookie of the Year and is a 2-Time WNBA All-Star (2014 and 2018). She is proudly Nigerian-American and graduated from Stanford University with an International Relations degree under the mentorship of Dr. Condoleezza Rice. In August 2020, she became the first Black woman to host a national, daily sports-talk radio show.
Osagie Imasogie on the other hand is the Chairman of the Investment Bank and
