Did Jonathan visit to congratulate Tinubu?

Several posts emerged on social media claiming that former President Goodluck Jonathan visited Bola Tinubu to congratulate him on the election.

The claim is false, here are the facts

Goodluck Jonathan alongside former Ghana President, John Mahama led an ECOWAS Election Monitoring team to visit the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

Though the visit came at a time when Tinubu was leading the election results, the ECOWAS team had earlier visited other Presidential candidates  Peter Obi of Labvour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

As at the time of the visit, INEC was yet to announce Tinubu as the winner of the election.

Also in a tweet, former President Jonathan explained that the visit was to sue for peace as well as pursue the interest of Nigeria during and after election.

CONCLUSION

The claim that Jonathan visited Tinubu to congratulate him on the election is FALSE.
