Is Borno state four times the size of Southeast?

The Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufa has claimed that Borno State is four times the size of the five states in the Southeastern part of Nigeria.
 
He made the claim while featuring on Channels TV programme.
 
The claim is false, here are the facts
 
The Southeast is made up of five states, namely Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
 
According to the Nigerian Bureau of statistics, as at 2006, the land areas of the states in sqkm were given as follows: Abia 4900, Anambra 4865, Ebonyi 6400, Enugu 7534 and Imo 5288.
 
The Southeast states all together has a land mass of 28987 sqkm.
 
The same data on NBS shows Borno land area as 72609 sqkm
 
Four times the land ares of the Southeast equals 115,948 sqkm
 
CONCLUSION
Using the available statistics, Borno is not four times larger than the south-eastern states put together, it is only twice bigger by land area; therefore, the claim is FALSE.
