Social media was awashed on International Mothering day, the Sunday after election with claims that Senator Aishatu Dahiru, popularly called Binani has been elected as the governor of Adamawa state.
The claim is false, here are the facts
Binani is the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
No major news outlets in Nigeria published a report that Dahiru has been elected as the governor of Anambra state.
Collation of the governorship election results in the state was postponed for a while due to some thugs invading the collation centers.
Dahiru was said to be leading the results announced at that point.
After collation from the 21 local government areas in the state, Binani scored 390, 275 while the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, polled 421,524.
INEC state collation officer, Prof Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri however declared the election inconclusive due to the margin of votes.
Conclusion The claim that Binani was elected as the governor of Adamawa state is FALSE. The election was declared inconclusive.
