Were INEC staff arrested in Lagos?

Published

on

Just before the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Some online reports state that three officials of INEC in the Lagos state were arrested by Police officers from the police station in Ijeshatedo for allegedly conspiring with St. Briggs Catholic Church, Ijeshatedo, Lagos, to create an illegal CVR center in the church.

Here is what we know so far…

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lagos state, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), described the news report as fake news as all INEC staff and machines were complete.

Conclusion

No INEC staff was arrested anywhere in Lagos on Friday. Hence, this claim is false.
