Did Obi win Presidential poll in Lagos?

Several news in the media reported that the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, won the Presidential election in Lagos State.

The claim is TRUE, here is how we knew:

Presidential election was held across the country on the 25 February 2023. The results were collated from polling units to wards, to Local governments and to the State level.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, opened the national collation centre in Abuja on Sunday 26 February 2023.

On Monday 27 February 2023, INEC announced at the national collation centre that Peter Obi secured 582,454 votes in Lagos ahead of APCs Bola Tinubu who had 572,606. PDPs Atiku trails behind with 75,750 votes.

The result has since been publiushed on credible platforms like PUNCH, Channels, The Cable, THISDAY amongst others.

CONCLUSION

The claim that Obi defeated Tinubu in Lagos is TRUE.

Was Obasanjo out of the country during the Governorship Election?

News broke out during the Governorship Election that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was out of the country.

The claim is true, here’s what we know

Many people expected that Obasanjo would show up as usual at his polling unit in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo voted during the presidential election and it was said that he has never missed an election in the state.

But surprisingly, he didn’t show up on the day of the governorship election. This spiked speculation about his location, hence, the news of him being out of the country.

When contacted his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi disclosed that Obasanjo had traveled out of the country earlier, he was supposed to return a day before the election but couldn’t return.

Conclusion
Since the former president didn’t show up at his polling unit in the election day and with confirmation from his media aide, the claim that Obasanjo was out of the country is TRUE

Does Picture show LP Lagos assembly candidate, Olumide Oworu attacked during elections?

A picture of Olumide Oworu, the LP house of assembly candidate for Surulere LGA 1, circulated on social media with claims that he sustained injuries in an attack by political thugs.

The claim is misleading, here’s why

Using Google reverse image, ro result showed up for the image. But upon deep finding, it showed up on the Instagram page of a makeup artist @carinasfx.

The picture dates back to October 7, 2022 and it was shot on a movie set.

The viral image of Oworu is old and misleading. It has been online for about five months.

Though the LP house of assembly candidate reported an attack on him and his team in Surulere on March 14, the picture trending is not related to the event.

Conclusion:
The viral image showing that Oworu was attacked by thugs is misleading.
