Do INEC Officials Insist On Thumbprint Before Issuing PVC?

A message has been circulating on WhatsApp suggesting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials are insisting that people thumbprint before they are issued their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs).

This claim is False, Here is what we know – 

In verifying the claim, fact-checkers at Daily Trust visited the INEC official website to check for any possible update but found no such information.

Further investigation led this paper to speak with the National Commissioner and Chairman of, the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

 

He noted that those circulating the messages were “fifth columnists and purveyors of fake news as there was no such development from the commission”.

He stressed that the message did not emanate from the commission.

Conclusion: 

Based on the available information, we can confirm that the message in circulation is false and intended to mislead.

Does picture show Tony Elumelu’s daughter?

A picture being circulated on social media claims to be displaying United Bank for Africa, UBA’s Chairman, Tony Elumelu, alongside his daughter who plaited ‘all back’ during a visit to the President of Benin Republic.

The claim is TRUE.

Putting the picture being circulated on Google image, it brought results leading to the verified Facebook and Instagram pages of Tony Elumelu.

Tony Elumelu posted the pictures with the caption “Today in Benin Republic meeting with President Patrice Talon and his lovely wife Claudine Talon also featuring Gogo Lee #BackToWork #TOEWay”

Findings showed that ‘Gogo Lee’ is the nickname of Elumelu’s second daughter Ogochukwu also known as Ogor.


The picture of Elumelu’s visit has since been shared by many citing Gogo Lee as an example of modesty and humble lifestyle despite access to affluence.

CONCLUSION
The Picture showing Tony Elumelu’s daughter wearing a red shirt, black trouser and ‘all back’ hair is TRUE.
