A video found on Twitter and shared across other social media claims that Igbos were chased out of a hall by Police in the United States while holding Eze Ndigbo election.
The claim is FALSE
A check on the video showed that the event was held at Dallas/ Forth worth, Texas on July 5, 2023.
Â
According to voices from the video, the hotel management had served guests food before the appearance of the police.
Â
Further findings showed that the gathering was the 14th annual convention of Mbaise USA.
Â
Mbaise is an extraction of the Igbo ethnic group whose origin is in Imo State.
Â
Digging further, it was discovered that Police clamped down on the venue for overcrowding.
Â
According to one of the participants, the organizers planned for 300 which was the capacity of the hall but attendance was more.
Â
No election was being held but it was a convention and not an Ndigbo affair.
Â
CONCLUSION
The claim that Ndigbos were chased out of hall by Police in the US during election is FALSE.
